While UV Ultraviolet in duct air purifiers are now popular, their ozone output is very, very low. What makes the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 so unique?

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 features a powerful United States, 24 carat gold plated, 2000 mg.hr. corona discharge ozone element.  It is not just a weak UV lamp that most manufacturers use. It is hundreds of times stronger than ANY UV lamp made. This second generation United States Patented ozone element doesn't produce any Nitrogen Oxides. Each element comes apart and can be cleaned in less than a minute. This element will last a least 5 years. The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 does NOT use an ultraviolet bulb as many other whole house ozone machines use. That is because our United States patented ozone element is far superior than UV bulbs. Our ozone elements are literally HUNDREDS of times more powerful than Ultraviolet bulbs. Why don't we use Ultraviolet lamps? Because they are ineffective in killing mold and germs. Old style ozone "plates" consist of  flimsy easily corroded steel screens and delicate thin pieces of glass or mica which must ALWAYS be in perfect alignment. Old style ozone "plates", first designed in the 1800's,  must be removed, scrubbed clean, dried, and be meticulously reassembled, or they will not work correctly.  Even with all that work, their life span is notoriously short.

Variable Ozone Control with Burst Control

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 in duct ozone generator comes with both a variable ozone level control, and an automatic "Burst Timer" which allows this unit to be used in both small or larger applications. The variable ozone level control allows the user to vary the ozone level from 1000 to 2000 mg.hr. The green button, easy to set, burst timer divides the time the unit is producing ozone.  The burst timer can be set to have the ozone produced for 5, 10, 20, 30, or 45 seconds of each minute. The timer can also be turned off for continuous ozone production. This means that the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 can be set for a total ozone output from between 83 and 2000 mg.hr. That mean it can be used in almost any sized home. This makes the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 the most versatile in duct ozone generator ever produced in terms of ozone output. The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 plugs into any standard 110 volt outlet.

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 comes standard with an automatic HUBA air pressure switch. The HUBA switch senses when there is airflow in the duct.  When it does, it automatically turns the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 on. It is VERY IMPORTANT that whatever in duct ozonator is used that it have an automatic operation switch. Otherwise the ozone machine will be on all the time and build up a very high level of ozone when the HVAC system is off. Most in duct ozone generators do NOT have a way to automatically sense if the air handling system is moving air and only produce ozone when the system is on. If an in duct ozone generator does not have an automatic switch to turn it on and off ONLY when there is airflow in the duct it will build the ozone level to a higher level than is accepted as safe.  When the ducts start to move the air, that very concentrated blast of ozone will reach the occupants and cause them sinus and eye irritation, and most likely a headache. Any in duct ozone generator, no matter what it's size, MUST have a switch to control it ONLY when air is moving in the ducts. Otherwise it can be considered potentially dangerous. Remember the only controversy that exists over air purification levels of ozone concerns the OVERUSE of ozone in an occupied area.  An in duct ozone generator WITHOUT an automatic switching system, is EXACTLY how the overuse of air purification use of ozone will occur. The unit can also be run without the automatic HUBA switch if desired. It can be plugged directly into a controlled outlet of an HVAC system bypassing the HUBA switch. You have may have heard advertisements that some air purifiers will magically "Work through walls"!
That claim, of course, is ridiculous.  Ozone or ions cannot pass through walls. 

But with our Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 you can distribute ozone throughout your entire home and purify the air directly through the ductwork.  The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is a true in-duct air purifier.

The simple action of introducing ozone into the duct work will help to kill whatever bacteria may be living in them. The ozone will also help purify the air in your home. Unlike ionizers which cannot kill substantial amounts of bacteria, ozone can truly kill mold and bacteria.

Some people have been known to place popular brands of ionizer/ozone generators near the return air ducts to help purify the air in an entire house. 
That is the absolute WORST possible thing that they could do! 

By introducing ionization into the ductwork it will cause any fine bacteria and mold particles to be electronically glued to the inside of the ductwork. 
That will only INCREASE the bacteria and mold living in an air duct. 

While the ozone from these types of machines may help kill that bacteria, the ionization will have the reverse effect of attaching more mold spores and bacteria to the inside walls of the ducts.
The ionization will negate whatever good that is being done by the ozone.

Also keep in mind such units typically only put out 360 mg.hr. of ozone. That low level would never have the ability to blast the ducts with a High Ozone Shock Treatment in order to help sterilize the ducts.

Most other air duct ozone generators use ultraviolet light to generate ozone. While UV light is capable of generating ozone, it is not nearly as efficient as the patented method of corona discharge ozone that the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 produces. 

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 does NOT use an ultraviolet bulb as many other whole house ozone generators use. 
That is because our United States patented ozone element is far superior than UV bulbs.

The high level of ozone our United States patented ozone elements produce does kill mold!

Most in duct ozone generators also have very low ozone outputs of 300 mg.hr. or less. 
While this is fine for simple air purification, that type of machine would never be able to blast the ducts with a High Ozone Shock Treatments that can kill the mold and bacteria that lives in your ductwork.

Even if you have the best air filter made connected to your ductwork, and you should, they cannot kill whatever mold or bacteria that may live in them.

With it's high output of 2000 mg.hr. the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 can not only purify the air in large homes and businesses, it has the ability to blast out the ducts with High Ozone Shock Treatments.
and actually kill some of the mold in the ducts.

That makes the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 can a dual feature in duct ozone generator. It has the power to kill mold with High Ozone Shock Treatments, and yet it also can be turned down to a low enough level for simple light air purification.

This is very important because if you have existing odors in your home or ductwork, it is necessary to blast them away before you attempt to use ozone for air purification. 

The higher levels of ozone will help rid permanent odors more effectively than the low air purification levels of ozone.  In that respect you will need less ozone for air purification.

If your in-duct ozone generator has only 400 mg.hr. of ozone output you will be constantly be turning it up to a higher level in order to cover up whatever odors might be present. 

In a very real sense you could be choking yourself out with too much air purification level of ozone when you should have pre treat the area with a higher level of ozone so that you won't need as much ozone for air purification.

In that sense the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is a safer in duct ozone generator because it allows you to pre treat serious bacteria and odor problems with a High Ozone Shock Treatment.
 
 

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 can be installed by most handy homeowners in a very short time.
The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is can be attached directly to the side of the outgoing airduct of any forced air HVAC system. 
It can also be installed on the incoming return side of the HVAC system if it is impossible to install it on the outgoing side.

A rectangular sized hole 8.75 inches wide by 4 inches tall is cut on the side of the steel ductwork. The unit is then screwed directly to the side of the duct. 
The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 only needs 4 inches clearance inside of the duct to mount.

The automatic HUBA switch is then very simply screwed to the side of the duct. A small hole is then drilled into the side of the duct then air pressure sensor tube of the HUBA switch inserted into the duct. 
Plug the HUBA wire into the side of the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000, then plug the unit into any standard 110 volt wall outlet. 
Simply adjust the HUBA switch to sense the airflow, and the ozone level to the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000. 
The unit can also be run without the automatic HUBA switch if desired.
It can be plugged directly into a controlled outlet of an HVAC system bypassing the HUBA switch.
The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 then plugs into any standard 110 volt outlet.

Most other air duct ozone generators list their output by square footage, not by the total output of ozone in milligrams per hour. But what if one company decides 300 mg.hr. will cover 1000 sq.ft. and another company decides that 500 mg.hr. is needed to cover the same 1000 sq. ft.?
That's the way it is in the air purification business, there are few standards which can be agreed upon.

In that sense a square footage rating of an in duct ozone generator is meaningless. 
What is the standard by which they are giving this rating?  How can you truly compare one machine to another if both companies can't agree upon a square footage standard?

That's why comparing the total ozone output in milligrams per hour, mg.hr., is what will truly let you compare one ozone machine to another.

Because there are no standards for square footage ratings for ozone generators, the ONLY number that means ANYTHING for comparison is the actual total ozone output as rated my mg.hr. 

No other standard is viable. Even ppm rating do not tell you the actual ozone output of a machine in the way that a mg.hr. output rating does.

That's not to say that square footage ratings for in duct ozone generators should not be given.
You only want so much ozone in the air that is needed for air purification purposes.  But to compare one ozone generator to another, the only REALstandard is the total ozone output listed in milligrams per hour.

If a company does not provide an ozone output for its machine in mg.hr. there is NO WAY to compare it to another ozone machine. It's that simple.

The level of ozone you need to freshen the air in a relatively clean 2000 sq.ft. home, or a home with just one smoker is COMPLETELY different than the level of ozone needed to combat cigarette smoke in the same sized night club with 20, or 30 people in it smoking at the same time. 
That's just common sense.

The contamination level, the number of smokers, or the seriousness of the odor problem MUST be taken into account when deciding how much ozone to use for a certain square footage rating.

This gets back to the original point that a single square footage rating for an in duct ozone generator is COMPLETELY MEANINGLESS!  Because that square footage rating does not address the issue of the overall contamination level. The contamination level in the room MUST be taken into account for a square footage rating to have ANY validity.

When rating one in duct ozone generator, or any type of ozone generator to another the ONLY real criteria MUST be the total output listed in milligrams per hour.

If another brand of in duct ozone generator does not list the total output in milligrams per hour there is NO WAY to compare to another type of in duct ozone machine.

The number 2000 in the name of our in duct ozone generator does not mean it is rated for 2000 square feet like it does for competitors models.

If a competitors model has a number like the In-duct 10000 that does not mean it is a 10,000 mg.hr. unit.  Nor may it mean that is is suitable for 10,000 square feet. The fact is that a number associated to an ozone machine can mean ANYTHING.

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is named after its true ozone output, 2000 milligrams per hour.  There is no telling what another companies number means in its name.  We know of one company that has a model called the OZ-2000 that only puts out 750 mg/hr of ozone. Be sure and ask a machines true output, don't be fooled.

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is generally considered to be 4 to 10 times more powerful than many other induct ozone generators.

Be sure to compare ozone generators as apples to apples, not apples to oranges. The total ozone output in milligrams per hour is the ONLY way you can compare any kind of ozone generator to another.

As shown in the diagram above, simple Oxygen molecules known as O2, can be turned into Ozone, O3, by the introduction of the high voltage electrical charge given by an Air-Zone® Ozone Generator.

Ozone is considered an unstable gas, meaning it cannot exist for more than a very short time.

Very soon after it is formed, nature forces the third oxygen atom of Ozone to break free, and oxidize bacteria, viruses and pollutants.

Bacteria, viruses, and mold are all destroyed by this process.

All that remains after reactions with ozone are the harmless compounds of pure oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2), and hydrogen (H2). 

The introduction of low levels of ozone leads to cleaner air to breathe.

Ozone generators with lower ozone outputs not only take longer to get the job done, they can't do the task as well as the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000.

You get a whole lot more with our in duct ozone generator. 
Most in duct ozone purifiers do not even list their output in milligrams per hour.  Because of that there is no way to compare them to our 2000 mg/hr Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000.

Some brands state they only put out a "safe" amount of ozone.  That's a sure sign of an under powered unit.  That means their unit can never perform a High Ozone Shock Treatment.
If they cannot do that their effectiveness is minimal at best. 300 mg/hr is not enough to sanitize the air in an entire home.
Why waste your money on a unit that won't do the job?

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is made out of a very high grade of thick surgical stainless steel. Most units do not use this grade of costly stainless steel. Most use a cheaper grade of steel that can easily corrode.
Some competitors units are made out of cheap aluminum.
Some are made out of plastic which cannot withstand the heat of a forced air heating system.

Some units use a cheap 12 volt wall transformer to supply the unit with power. 
The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 uses the exact same high quality transformer that is in our professional XT-28000 ozone generator.
A 12 volt transformer is the sign of a cheap unit with low power.

The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is by far the best in duct ozone generator / air purifier on the market.

What the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is NOT designed to do.  The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 is NOT designed remediate or kill mold in entire homes, offices, or restaurants.  If an entire home has a mold problem that must be totally killed, then this is NOT the type of ozone generator to use.  For severe mold contamination's rooms must be treated on an individual room by room basis with a higher output ozone generator. For example if a basement has a mold problem then it is is recommended to blast out that area individually with one of our High Powered Ozone Generators shown below. Because the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 will be distributing the ozone through an entire ventilation system, and therefore the entire home, no single room will have a high enough concentration of ozone to be able to kill all of the mold in that room. It is also NOT designed to cure a severe mold contamination inside of air ducts.  It can strongly deodorize them , and kill some of the mold in them, but it cannot sanitize entire ventilation systems.  That takes an ozone generator with a much higher output.  Of course this is all relative to the size and length of the duct work, and the severity of the mold contamination. The Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 will help deodorize entire homes of mold odors but it does not have the capability to sanitize the entire home of mold. On it's high level it will kill some of the mold living in the ducts, far better than most smaller whole house ozone generators because of it's high 2000 milligram per hour output.   But because the ozone will be mixed with the normal air that is drawn into the ducts by means of the heating or air conditioning system, it will not have the extremely high concentration that is needed to totally sterilize an air duct of mold. Why can't I just use the Air-Zone® XT-2000 for Whole House Air Purification?  While the Air-Zone® Air-Duct 2000 puts out the same amount of ozone as the XT-2000, the two units are designed for different functions. The XT-2000 cannot be turned down to a low enough ozone level to be used for air purification.
