We
all love our pets.
However,
sometimes living with their odors can be annoying.
cat,
dog, and other pet urine odors are some of the strongest odors know to
man.
They
are also some of the most difficult odors to remove.
How to use an ozone generator to remove pet odors
When your pet's
area is not occupied you can do high ozone shock treatments to remove strong
odors.
High
Ozone Shock Treatments are very effective
for removing stubborn odors like smoke, mold, and animal odors.
It is useful
to "blow out" an unoccupied room with a large amount of ozone to kill many
of the odors and germs that may be present.
High Ozone Shock Treatments are only to be done in rooms when no people, animals, or plants are present. This is because a toxic level of ozone is needed to kill the germs, mold and viruses present in the room.
This is completely
different from the use of ozone for low level air purifying.
Air
Purifying is usually done with the ozone level set very low.
High Ozone Shock Treatments are done with the unit run at full power for a measured period of time in an unoccupied room.
These high ozone treatments are what kill mold, bacteria, and serious pet odors, not the low levels of ozone used for air purification.
If the function
is to use a machine for
both Air
Purifying and High
Ozone Shock Treatments then the XT-800
is the largest machine that can be used.
Understand that
if the odors are very serious, or the rooms are larger the XT-800 might
not be large enough.
If the room is larger than 20 X 20 an XT-2000, XT-4000, or better yet an XT-6000 is recommended.

It is important to size the right ozone generator for the job.
It is important to note that to kill mold, bacteria, and to remove strong odors, such as pet urine odors, as much ozone as possible should be introduced into the area.
High ozone treatments
should be performed room by room as to get the ozone concentration as high
as possible.
Trying to treat
a series of connected rooms, or an entire house at once will not
yield a very high ozone concentration, and thus not do a very good job.
The idea is to try and remove the serious odor with ozone, not just cover it up.
Running a smaller
machine for a longer period of time is not equivalent as using a more powerful
machine.
This is because
the ozone starts breaking down soon after it is created, and reverts back
to oxygen.
Specific ozone
concentration levels must be achieved in an area to kill bacteria and remove
serious odors.
If the ozone
level is not at these required levels the bacteria may never be killed,
nor will the serious odor be removed.
Smaller machines run, even for many hours longer than larger ones, cannot "catch up" with the disintegrating ozone, and therefore never achieve the required ozone levels needed for a high kill ratio. An XT-4000 run for one hour will have a higher kill rate than an XT-2000 run for two hours.
For strong odors, and to kill mold and bacteria using as strong a machine as possible is recommended. of course the XT-6000 is usually the recommended machine for this type of job.
Every ozone generator owner should try High Ozone Shock Treatments.
Many times the shock treatment will be enough to freshen the room and the ozone need not be on when the room is occupied.
Some individuals
are sensitive to even low levels of ozone and
High
Ozone Shock Treatments are the best method
for them to use ozone for great benefit when they are not in the room.
The effect of
the ozone sterilization will continue to last even after the generator
is turned off.
There is no formula for how long or how much ozone to use for a shock treatment.
Every situation is different, so the user must adjust his machine, and set the treatment time for their own particular situation.
Usually a high
ozone unoccupied treatment would be recommended for about one hour.
Turn the ozone
generator up to its highest ozone output, set the countdown timer. and
leave the room. An hour after the ozone generator has turned itself off
you can return to the room and air it out.
The pet urine
odors should be greatly reduced.
These treatments may need to be repeated if the odors persist or return.
Although ozone will remove the odor better than any other method know, sometimes the odor is so far embedded in porous material that it can return after a period of time.
It
is a proven fact that ozone KILLS mold.

While performing a high ozone shock treatment, make sure that all people, pets, plants are vacant from the area to be treated.
This
procedure can also be used for treating odors such as, smoke damaged furniture
or clothing, moldy rooms, garbage rooms, basements, or hotel rooms.
