Ozone helps break the molecular bonds of the smoke and helps to destroy it.

However if there are more than 10 smokers in a room the ozone alone may not be able to handle the smoke.

The tar from cigarette smoke is just like the tar we drive our cars on everyday. 
It is thick, nasty, oil based tar that MUST be filtered out of the air and removed.

Unless the tar is physically removed from the air by the means of an air filter only a limited amount of the air will actually be cleaned.  The tar MUST be removed from the air.

It is important to understand there is no other possible way to remove the cigarette smoke tar from the air than by using an air filter to trap the tar and take it out of the air.
